each area. However perhaps a better question to start with is why
astrology at all?

Individuals:
Astrology
Astrology is not only what you see in newspapers and magazines.
Although some of these forecasts may be excellent, they give very little
information compared to what can be obtained from a full astrological
reading. A session with an experienced astrologer can provide insight
into many of life's issues. Clients come for many different reasons,
but the main ones are probably job, partners, parents, siblings, children
and the more spiritual questions, such as life purpose. Astrology can
answer questions as to why we might be with a particular partner or what job
suits best. It can provide an answer as to how long a particular issue will
last and what we can learn from it. The most common feedback is that an
astrological reading confirms what clients instinctively know and this can
be very comforting. It can give us the courage to follow our dreams. A
normal astrological reading takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and it may be
recorded if required. This usually covers a basic chart reading and looks a
year ahead for present and upcoming themes. Many clients return each
year to gain a focus for the year ahead. But many come more frequently to
gain insight into a particular issue.
Other astrological tools can
provide information on the 'Where' questions. E.g. Which country would be
good for a new business venture? Which area of a city would I feel happy
living in? Where would I enjoy a holiday? Should I take the job in
e.g. Rome or Los Angeles? Faye also offers career counselling
based on astrological principles combined with her therapeutic approach.
Couples-Counselling
Oftentimes clients have questions concerning relationships. Astrologers who,
like Faye, are members of recognised professional groups, may not give
information concerning other people without their permission. It is possible
to give some information related to how the client may be affected from the
client's viewpoint. However, where there are problems in a
relationship, the best solution is to seek advice
together, as the problems can only be solved together. Astrology
offers tools to look at relationships in the form of a joint chart. This
horoscope can show where the challenges may be and how they may be helped.
As a trained therapist Faye can provide an objective look at these issues
and provide a safe space for issues to be discussed together. By having the
charts, the main issues can be found very quickly, as opposed to the way
this has to be done in normal couples counselling.
Therapy
Astrology is a great tool for providing insight and timing and although
this can help a great deal, it may not be enough to change a stubborn
pattern or an emotional block. Astrology is a 'mental' discipline.
We can explain ideas, and open up emotional issues but we need other
techniques to help with emotional and physical problems. Astrology can be a
great help as a diagnostic tool, for example in career counselling, but
healing the recognised blocks may need support from a trained counsellor.
Therapy helps to change patterns and gives support to release old issues and
learn how to approach problems in a new way. Faye makes a contract
with her clients to review progress after 5 sessions and because the
techniques she uses ( Inner Child Integration Therapy and Regression Therapy
amongst others) usually work quickly it is possible to see if the therapy is
useful to the client or not and to decide what the next steps should be. It
is not the intention that clients spend many months in therapy. Faye's
clients have often come for a few sessions and then when a new issue arises
they may come back for a few sessions. Clients are expected to work on
problems themselves and take responsibility for their progress. A trained
therapist supports this process.
Aura Reading
Many
people find the idea of aura reading appealing possibly because it speaks in
images and it appears to have a more spiritual content than astrology. Faye
sees her astrological and aura reading consultations as providing similar
benefits. Her astrological sessions require more input from the client as
she feels discussions can deliver better results with astrology. Her aura
reading sessions tend to be just that - readings, with less input from the
client although questions may be asked. The session may be recorded.
An aura reading describes the energy around the person and in the different
energy points in the body (the chakras.) These readings offer information on
current issues and sometimes on patterns from past lives.

Through her school,
The
Amsterdam School of Astrology, Faye runs workshops and training programmes
for astrologers. She also organises workshops given by well-known
international astrologers as a service to astrologers in the Netherlands.
Supervision and mentoring are also services she offers through the school.
She is a member of various astrological organisations and was for ten years
active as a board member of the Astrological Association (Netherlands) (ASAS),a group
